US Marine Walks on Antarctica, Completes 7th Continent for 80th Birthday
US Marine and Vietnam Veteran Danny Garcia Walking Man accomplished another monumental milestone when he walked on Antarctica as he readied to celebrate his 80th birthday. Since 1996, Danny has walked for children and world peace, more than 52 million steps, on North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Message of Peace on the 7th Continent
On the eve of his 80th birthday, Danny checked Antarctica off his list of storied, impressive accomplishments and brought the message of peace to the ends of the earth. Danny and his wife Jackie stepped onto the Antarctica peninsula from March 2 – 8, 2025, and fulfilled their mission to express a message and prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth”.
Walking Milestone and Message
Danny said of this milestone, “I want to thank God. I turned 80 on March 18th, and continue to walk around the world, led by the Holy Spirit. It is by faith, hope, and love. My message? Don’t quit on what God has called you to do.”
Antarctica Logistics by Swoop Ltd
For this walk on Antarctica, the Garcias booked their travel through Swoop Ltd. This company arranged the logistics for the trip. Their concierge, Carola from Patagonia, thoroughly prepared them for every facet of their thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime expedition to the White Continent. They made Danny’s celebration of his 80th birthday extraordinary.
Bypassed Sailing the Drake Passage
The Garcias travelled with tour operator Antarctica 21 with their Fly-Sail package, flying on Antarctic Airlines from Punta Arenas, Chile, to King George Island, Antarctica. By flying from Punta Arenas, they bypassed the Drake Passage and did not have to sail over this famous (and rough) body of water. They made expedition landings with the expert guides on board the Magellan Explorer, led by Captain Denis Radja of Croatia.
Gift to the Crew of the Magellan Explorer
As a parting gift and expression of appreciation to the outstanding crew and expert guides of the Magellan Explorer, the Garcias presented a gift. Danny presented “Old Glory” to Captain Radja as a symbol of peace and love. This gesture astounded both guests and crew alike, and the expression of gratitude touched their hearts and souls. What an amazing walk on Antarctica, accompanied by amazing people from all over the world.
